Abstract
Possibility of quantitative determination of photorefraction in Mg doped LiNbO3 (LN:Mg) by the Z-scan method at the GW/m2 intensity level is demonstrated. For the first time, twenty times smaller damage sensitivity (n*e) is measured for stoichiometric LN:Mg than for congruent one. In the case of congruent and stoichiometric LN:Mg crystals n*e = -1.2•10-13 m2/W and .n*e = 6.6•10-15 m2/W, and for the nonlinear absorption coefficients β = 2.1•103 cm/GW and β = 1.7•103 cm/GW respectively, are measured.
