Abstract
A simple analytic expression for human visual contrast sensitivity as a function of space frequency has been developed which is dependent only on brightness. This approximation yields results generally within the + 20% uncertainty of most such human measurements when compared to what little published data exists. This approximation is applicable for contrasts greater t4an 1% and space frequencies greater than 0.1 cycle per mrad and for brightness down to 10-4 ft. L which covers the region of most practical modeling interest.
