Abstract
Creators of simulations have a myriad of engineering tools to facilitate database creation, signature creation, rendering, visualization, and other essential elements in the simulation process. But the dominant influence on the appearance of the background, target, and path has always been intractable. Now efforts are being considered to develop natural environment engineering tools which will simplify and facilitate the systematic incorporation of phenomenologically-correct environmental effects in simulations. The authors, a meteorologist and a system engineer, describe the few extant tools, efforts to create others, and suggest a forum to define the needs.
