Abstract
This paper deal with the improvement of image quality of a extended object formed by an optical system through the atmosphere when the use the phase conjugation algorithm and measurements of phase field of a reference source. Characteristics of an optical system with adaptive correction: optical transmission function and resolution, have been considered. A reference source as a an object with the known amplitude-phase distribution can be formed immediately on the object surface which is analyzed, carried out to infinity (a reference star) or disposed between an object and an objective (artificial star). It is necessary to provide a practical coincidence due to the phase turbulence of reference source with the phase along the whole path up to the object. The reference source should be located somewhere higher than the effective layer of atmospheric turbulence.
