Abstract
Three-dimensional reconstruction of tissue from images of X-ray CT and MR CT, is useful for diagnosis and surgical operation. However, it is often difficult to recognize and extract accurate tissue information from images using simple binarization or edge detection. Organ shapes are complex, but it is said that they should have fractal property. So we are likely to introduce fractal theory for extraction or discrimination of tissue. In this paper, we analyze tissue image data using not only average and variance but also three fractal dimensions, and classify them to three categories (brain, eye and neck) by two dimensional discriminant analysis. As a result, discriminant rate are over 80%. It is useful to introduce fractal dimension on multivariate analysis of tissue images.
