Abstract
Hybrid combinations of morphological, feature extraction and pattern recognition methods are used to analyze disordered structures. As a simple example of a disordered structure, we consider locations of a number of rectangles in an image and determination of the distributions of orientations and lengths of each. Applications of our techniques to textured patterns are then addressed. New elementary and directional structuring elements are used.
