Abstract
6-methyl-1-indanone as a photoproducts of 2,5-dimethylphenacyl esters based on the effective photoinduced intramolecular hydrogen abstraction can further sensitize the photoreaction. Self-photosensitization was discussed in details in the paper and the mechanism was deduced as the intermolecular triplet-triplet energy transfer. Importantly, photosensitization can increase the rate of photodeprotective reaction, but also present a new approach to wavelength-dependent deprotection.
