Abstract
This paper describes a new biologically plausible parser based on the Assembly Calculus, a recently proposed computational framework implemented through the spiking of neurons. We demonstrate this parser can support Kleene star, an essential operator of regular expression. While the original parser proposed by Mitropolsky doesn’t support Kleene star. Hence our parser can deal with much more regular languages than the original parser. Our discussion suggests that the parser can be extended to parse some center-embedded sentences.
