Profile Summary

Originally from Colorado, in 2012 Laura graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh with a BS in Bioengineering and a BA in Studio Art. Afterwards she was awarded a Whitaker Fellowship and moved to England, where she obtained an MPhil in Clinical Neurosciences from Churchill College at the University of Cambridge. While in Cambridge she worked in the Rosie Maternity Hospital helping to develop and conduct studies on infants in the neonatal intensive care unit using simultaneous diffuse optical imaging and EEG. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering through joint research at University College London (UCL) and the University of Cambridge. Her research concentration is in clinical biomedical optics, specifically non-invasive imaging of the infant brain using time-resolved diffuse optical tomography. Laura is also a member supervisor at UCL’s Institute of Making and part-time employee at the medical device company Gowerlabs.
