Abstract
Bipolar disorder (BD) is one of the key topics of research today. The researchers found that BDNF may be associated with BD. However, the molecular mechanism of how BDNF mutations lead to BD remains unclear. In this paper, by using GO and KEGG and reading a large number of related papers, the existing pathways that BDNF can affect BD were introduced. V66M is a mutant of BDNF that is most related to BD. Among the pathways queried by KEGG, only the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway has a relationship with BD. By querying the GO database, more than 30 pathways were found, among which more than 10 supported the relationship between BDNF and BD. The most important function is to support the development of the CNS. In terms of treatment, in addition to conventional medical therapy, electroconvulsive therapy can target BDNF to treat BD. And there is a great possibility of using CRISPR to treat BD in the future. Although some pathways show the relationship between BDNF and BD. However, some scientists still believe that BDNF is not related to BD or that the correlation is not strong. Research on BDNF and BD continues.
