Abstract
In order to control of the diameter of microfiber Bragg grating(MFBG) online, a reflection wavelength monitoring method based on chemical etching is proposed in this paper. In the HF acid solution, the optical fiber is regarded as a three-layer uniform cylindrical waveguide structure, and the reflection wavelength corresponds to the outer diameter in a certain environment. By fitting the relationship between the diameter and the reflection wavelength when the diameter is less than 19 μm, the online control of the diameter of MFBG in the range of 9-19 μm can be realized precisely. According to the experimental results, the maximum deviation of the diameter is about 0.31 μm, and the maximum relative deviation is 2.7%. This method provides a new preparation technique for the laboratory research on MFBG
